Population: 170,367*

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) stretches along the eastern flank of central Vancouver Island from Yellowpoint to Deep Bay and is British Columbia’s fifth most populous regional district. It’s home to a variety of landscapes, including picturesque coastal communities, the iconic Mount Arrowsmith and some of the finest sand beaches on eastern Vancouver Island.

Established in 1967, the RDN is a regional federation consisting of four municipalities (the City of Nanaimo, the city of Parksville, the Town of Qualicum Beach and the District of Lantzville) and seven electoral areas.

A portion of the Regional District of Nanaimo (School District 69 only) has been served by North Island 911 since the service was established in 1996.
